The Race:
- All racers will start at the same starting line in front of the Post Office.
- At the start of the race, Driver 1 is in the cart, Driver 2 is pushing the cart.
- Halfway around the track, a designated stop will be marked where all carts must make a complete stop. There, Driver 1 and Driver 2 must switch positions.
- Driver’s who fail to come to a complete stop in the designated area will receive a 5 second penalty.
- Both Driver 1 and Driver 2 must cross the finish line to distinguish a completed race. (See Rules of the Race #3)
- The finish line will be the same line as the start line, distinguishable by checkered flags.
- The team with the fastest time around the track, including the mandatory switch of drivers, will win the heat and advance to the next round.
Race Rules:
- All carts must pass a day-of inspection in order to compete in the races.
- No bumping. Contact with any other cart or participant during the race is prohibited. This includes; ramming into carts or participants, shoving participants out of the way and/or intentional infliction of injury towards other participants.
- Race officials have the authority to disqualify any participants who show dangerous and/or unsportsmanlike behavior.
- False starts will be penalized by 5 seconds. (A false start is when Driver 2 pushes the cart before the starting gun is fired).
- The Driver, who is pushing the cart, must have both hands on the handle bar at all times. This is a safety measure to ensure maximum control of the cart. Breaking of this rule will result in a 10 second penalty.
- Carts that break during the race will be disqualified. A break constitutes; ANY PART of cart detaching from the base, wheels, handle bars, steering wheel, any piece of the body of the cart, and decorations.
- All decorations, logos, and designs must be permanently attached to the cart. If decorations fall off during the race, it will result in disqualification.
